The Ryan Sims Foundation hosted its official unveiling
on December 4, 2006 at Union Station in Kansas City,
MO from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. with an evening
reception that included an art exhibit, live entertainment
by KC’s own Heat Index, cocktails and hors
d’oeuvres, and a silent auction.
Speakers included Cathleen Laporte, Executive Director
of the Ryan Sims Foundation; Ryan Sims, Founder;
Nichole Duvall, Executive Director of the American
Cancer Society Hope Lodge; Karla Nichols, Executive
Director of Cancer Action; Pastor Allen Dawkins of
Believers' Fellowship AG; Brenda Sniezek, Community
Relations Director of Kansas City Chiefs; and Carl
Peterson, President of Kansas City Chiefs. Al
Wallace and John Holt of Fox 4 also made appearances
at the event to show their support in the
fight against cancer. The silent auction featured
exclusive Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia and
showcased portraits of Ryan Sims, Trent Green, Tony
Gonzalez, Larry Johnson, Eddie Kennison, Brian Waters,
Tamba Hali, and many others. The silent auction was
hosted by local radio personality, Sean Tyler of
Hot 103 JAMZ and the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders.
Sponsors included the Kansas City Cancer Center
(Gold Tier), Kansas City Chiefs (Silver Tier), Believers'
Fellowship AG (Bronze Tier), The Borowsky Group (Bronze
Tier), Hot 103 JAMZ (Media), and KCSoul.com (Advertising).
The event was open to the public and benefited Cancer
Action and the American Cancer Society. |
